Rest N' Nest Campground advertises itself as "the campground with elbow room". There slogan is well founded as almost every site I saw was very spacious. We had site 57 which is a water, 30 amp electric and sewer site. The site measured 90 feet long and was 30 feet wide with another 15 feet of trees and shrubs separating us from Pond Drive. The site drifted downward and was not level. The site met our approval though as we had asked for a private, wooded site. There is a good dose of Seasonal Campers at this campground but they seem to be friendly and their sites well maintained. The campground has a homemade swimming pond that needs to be seen to be appreciated. The pond has a slide and a little wharf in the middle and has nice landscaping around it. The common ground areas of the campground were well maintained and landscaped. There is a large, 3 story (basement and two floors) recreation hall that boasts an arcade in the basement and a pool table. There were also bathrooms and showers in the basement which exits to the playground area on the pond side of the campground. The second floor was used for Bingo during our stay and has a stage that could be used for live bands, a dj or karaoke. There are horseshoe pits on one side of the rec hall and an above ground pool on the other side. At the office there is a little camp store with essentials like ice, fire wood and a propane filling station. We camp with two dogs and the campground seemed to be pet friendly. The only drawback we saw was the pull thru sites appeared to be a little too short. We will stay here again.

My wife, step daughter, her friend and our two dogs spent 5 nights at Chewonki Campground from June 30th to July 5th. We booked this campground because of the reviews given on this website and it did not disappoint. The campground is impeccably clean and well cared for. The owners recycle everything! This is a dog owners kind of campground as the owners are very dog friendly and almost every campsite had a dog or two on it. We camped at site 2B which is a full hookup site. It is one of 12 sewer sites on a grassy hill and each site is a step in the knoll. The best full hookup sites are 26, NN and RB. For people with tents and pop-ups or those who don't need sewer the wooded sites are some of the most spacious I have ever seen. In terms of recreation there is a small recreation hall that resides on the simpler side of life with a ping pong table, a fooseball table and a woven mat that resembles a chessboard on a card table. There are also shelves with books and games. There is a salt water swimming pool that is very clean and also has a wade pool next to it for the little trikes. There is a clay tennis court, horseshoe pits and a volleyball net set up as well. For the golfer there is a one hole golf course that is visible from the full hook up sites. Kayaks and canoes can be rented from the store to paddle along the Montsweag River that borders the campground. The camp store has essentials like wood and ice as well as neat sweatshirts but not much else. That isn't really a problem as there is a Shaw's Supermarket a little more than a mile away. Wiscasset Airport is beside the campground and it was neat to see the little planes take off and land. The good thing is that they didn't fly at night or in the early morning. At night the place is peaceful and quiet. We will be camping here again next year.

We camped here Memorial Day weekend. Campground is very spacious and nicely wooded. We had site number 226 which is a water and electric site. The site was 80 feet long and 40 feet wide. There were no campsites behind us and our neighbors were 30 feet away with nice walking paths between the sites. There is a neat swimming pool with a pirate ship with slides. Quiet hours were a little too strictly enforced for a Saturday night. It was 10:30 and the kids and I were laughing and having a great time when a staff member asked us to quiet down. We found it a little odd. Place was very clean. There is great hiking in the area as well. We will definitely stay here again.
